The great indian democracy...choice or lack of It

In a few months time India, the largest democracy in the world will go polls for the 15th time. The as usual the million dollar question arises who will come to power after all the dust has settled?? Gone are days of single party governments and of 3/4th majority in the center, now the in things are seat sharing formula's, power sharing formula's, pre-alliances and so on. I have been going through many a news website trying to figure out, whom should I vote for ??
To my astonishment I have hardly come across any information that sheds light on the policies or the election manifesto of any one party or why or how is it different from another. I find it strange that parties seem to be more concerned about coming up some formula to share seats than telling the people why they should vote for them over someone else based on their policies. I really feel the political parties in India no ideological credibility of any sort. If a party says it is one for secularism, how in the world can you be in an alliance with the BJP( Bhartiya Janta Party). I am not going to waste blog space trying to explain why the BJP is not a secular party, honestly if you cannot infer that from the past 30 years I am sorry but the world has to be told the " Dodo" has not gone extinct ( may be you are even dumber than that). Now after the Varun Gandhi's episode it is pretty clear that nothing has changed.
For example look at the state of Tamil Nadu and you will notice how political ideology is dead. The leader of the AIADMK, Jayalalitha imprisoned Vaiko under the act of POTA during her reign as Chief Minister. Now the both of them have become partners so as to oust the DMK from power. (I do not even want to get in to how a man, who is known to have links with an organization responsible for the assassination of our prime minister, can fight an election?) How can Sanjay Dutt , a man in the Mumbai serial blast case and Tada be allowed to stand in an election?? what kind of message are we sending out,  if a convicted fellon gets to represent the people of the country... Is there no one else... or is everything forgotten just becuase he did Munnabhai!!!
Since I could not find any information about any political outfit’s policies or their plan of action if voted in to power I decided to make my choice based on will be the face of the government if they were to be voted in to power.

Dr Manmohan Singh: A man of few words, an economist turned politician. Many say the most honest man in politics but the very same man who was the head of one the most corrupt cabinets in recent history. One of his ministers Shibu soren is actually in jail for murder. Shivraj Patil I think will go down in history as the worst home minister ever.... I mean man did absolutely nothing. Just as side note he was born in 1932....  May be its time he hang up his boots considering the government retirement age is 62 ... but ironically in terms Indian politics he is termed has fighting young !!

The trending e-commerce in India

  • India has always been an interesting market for the emerging market of the thoughtful people. India which is still believed to be a poor and underdeveloped country has a record of biggest marketplace for various big brands. The latest bliss of Indian market is the emergence of ecommerce and the various business associated with it. Taking an example of Flipkart.com which was started some ago by 2 IITians has changed the face of Indian market of purchasing even valuables like cell phones with the ease of cash on delivery . The concept behind flipkart.com was not really e-commerce but the word 'COD' which means you don't have to pay for the product online but you will first receive the product and if it really entertain you as per your needs then you have to pay for it in cash but not in the form of e-money which is the fear full commerce of most of the Indians.

MNREGA (2005)-A act of government of india

The national rural employment guarantee act is landmark legislaton in indian history of social security legislation after independence.enacted after a successful struggle for an employment guarantee legislation, this legislation is a partial victory towards a full fleded right to employment in any developing country context.

For the first time, right to work has been made a legal compulsion and entitlement for unemployment allowances in case of non-allotment of employment assured through this act.what is considered to be crucial is the empowerment of the poor through the provision of a right-based law, which would act as a strong safety net in the lack of alternative employment opportunities for poor people.
The other key attributes of ths scheme are time bound guarantee, lab or intensive work, decentralized participatory planning, women empowerment, work site facilities and above all, transparency and accountability through the provision of social audits and right to information.MNRGEA is a unique and unprecendented effort in strengthening grass-root democracy in india.
In west Bengal ,GP is the primary progarm implementing agency of NREGA along with other PRI bodies and line departments.
A study conducted by Dipjoy sen roy & Debabrata samanta on the good governance with west Bengal case took following five indicators which quantify the quality of governance
1. participation
2.Transparency
3.Accountability
4.Effectiveness & efficiency
5.Equity
If NREGA worksites were open only for one day in the year, one would find 216 crore people working !
on average each house hold ( that work on NAREGA works ) got 48 days of employment.
Tamil Nadu is another good example states from which there is much to learn. In Tamil Nadu , state government first focused on the basics improving capacity at the GP and block lables and putting system in place. Great attention was paid to details such as the design of formats for keeping , monitoring mechanisms here i introduce with a great example regarding to Tamil Nadu government action for NREGA. that is the job card in Tamil Nadu includes illustrations aimed at awareness generation apart from being innovative in recording attendence and payment. Tamil Nadu was at the bottom of the ladder in 2006-2007. Yet by 2009-2010 it was close to the top.

Our country for everyone

Mass are always fascinating things.A good map of one`s own country never fails to quicken one`s heart beat.seeing it is like hearing the national anthem or catching a glimpse of the flag fluttering from a proud most-head."where can one get this map?I have often been asked.
"Try the government bookshop on janpath."
I went there once, but drew a blank.this sort of map should be on sale in every bookshop.I have had many conversations like these.and i was reminded of them when, wandering round connaught place bookshops lost fortnight.i saw a little which read"school Atlas"-A blue letters on a chocolate-brown surface.I picked up the book, excited by it.it was printed beautifully. The colours and the lattering and the layout were all of the very first order. Now i described the Atlas-book,In atlas excellent idea on the part of those who planned the atlas os to devote three pages to the maps of our neighbouring countries-ceylon,nepal,burma,china,Afghanistan and pakistan. This is followed up by another feature deserving congratulations-A two page spread which is called"The great himalaya"showing the entire region from the salt Ranges in west pakistan to the Trijunction(point where india, china and burma meet) in the east.
This is the kind of map that should be in every school and every family. The survey of india`s motto is :Asefu Himachalam" and the atlas should be found in every place between the sea in the south and the mighty mountains in the north.a good atlas has of late become unbuyable;some foreign atlases have rightly not been allowed to be sold in the country because they either shows kashmir as a"territory under dispute" or magnanimously give parts of kashmir to pakistan.
let now we talk of emotinal integration.we say the people of one region should know more about the people of another.A sure way of achieving this is through the wise use of the song, the flag and the map.the young boy bending over and peering into a map travels in his imagination all over the country.
If he is from satara(A place in mumbai region)he hops to shimla(himachal pradesh).each lad in his mind does what sankaracharya did a thousand years ago, physically  touch the four corners of the country.that gives him a feeling that all the land was his,all parts of it.he will bathe in all the rivers, climb all the hills, see the waterfalls, swim in all the beaches, roll in the meadows, wonder in the forests, ride the elephants of assam, frolic with the lions of gir and pluck the flowers beside the dal lake(kashmir).
Finally i want to say to that A good atlas is,a present that boys treasure most and intelligent elders know it.

Some defects in governance and thoughts

According to my experience i think that social practices are much more dominant than the rule of law. whether we talk about the verdict given by the panchayat or any local community groups those verdicts are respected and at times over power the rule of law.Just to elaborate my point i would like to give an example. As an official picture (rules,Avt ,policy, programmes ),provisions of the constitution of india itself denote that discrimination of any type is constitutionally not acceptable.Every individual is protected by law on any kind of discrimination. But ,from the other hand social practice is quite opposite of that. The old values is still much more prevalent and practiced, for an example the status of women in the society, even after constitutional provision, many policies, programmes remains very low on indicators.Patriarchal beliefs, social ideology and practices many  a times over power of the rule. When it comes to practice, the unwritten social code of conduct is given priority over the written law.Hence the challenge is how to make a shift from mere governance to governance outcomes.

It is important to mention that the world is changing, very fast.it got transformed from local to global with IT and communication revolution.Economically also,in the era of globalisation, the interdependence between the countries have increased much more. But the larger question still to be answered that how much we have changed with the changing world. Are we still rigid and not able to accommodate new ideas?? or our ideas are much more superior to any other type? The question which we also need to look at is have our governance system is changing as per the need of the hour or ready to change and provide good governance and providing better service to the people.

Asia development alliance

In a recent meeting in Bangkok served  Asian national and international platforms and networks of civil society organisation that work on international development issues got together to form the Asia development Alliance to promote south-south collaboration and joint action on concerns relevant to the region.

                        SUSTAINABLE GROWTH WITH  EQUITY

To faster long term ,sustainable growth and reduce volatility the global community must promote good governance ,invest in stable and accountable institutions ,fight  corruption ensure that the rule of law and build resilience to shocks in all countries. We recognise the indispensability of economic and social justice, individual choice and opportunity for all. This includes the empowerment of women and girls;investments in young people`s development and expanding social protection schemes;and ensuring universal learning and access to health care including sexual and reproductive health.
it is imperative to change the current pattern of natural resource (both renewable and nonrenewable) exploition,in order to diversity our economic base and use natural resources sustainably. This must benefit local populations ,whilst promoting sustainable development.
My own experience has shown that when the political leadership granted key civil servants direct access,it was possible to resolve  issues that might have got complicated due to fractional interest of political leaders t the grass root levels or through conflicting circulars of the state government.public  signalling of support by the state leadership always helps civil servants reach the poor people by ignoring political interferences that re aimed at securing individuals or groups interests of comparatively better off people in the society.
The message is clear that when properly empowered by political leadership,a project director or a district magistrate can be transformed into an effective instrument not only for innovation in service delivery but also for its quality and delivery on time.

Akhand hind- A dream and reality

AKHAND BHARAT MATA

Akhand hind is a dream of many Hindu organisation in India and abroad. They want establish a Hindu nation by uniting the Indian subcontinent which includes Pakistan,Bangladesh and some times even up to Malaysia where there are traces if monarchy of Indian kings were present.I strongly believe this idea of Akhand hind is unrealistic and be harmful to the nation.Recently Narendra modi has revealed another face of Akhand hind.

In his most famous interview to shahid siddiqi of Urdu weekly Nai duniya,Narendra modi expressed his views of Akhand hind "My dream is that from Kashmir to kanyakumari",people should be ek and nek(one and good)....it is the imperialists in Pakistan who are running a campaign for Akhand hind,so that Pakistan,India and Bangladesh can be come one and this can be a Muslim-majority country...these people want to place Indian Muslims on the front line and create tension".

Good governance- A long journey

Times has gone through many phases. In the pre-independence period Father of the nation`s vision of good governance essentially meant democratic decentralisation which entailed power to the Gram panchayats and people at the lowest level of political hierarchy.By the early 1990`s However, the idea of good governance had turned into a metaphor of donor-conditionally for the debt-ridden countries Asia and Africa.

It would be good to bear in mind that governance refers to the interaction between government and other actors of the social sphere and the process of decisioning in a complex world.
The core values that go into the making of good governance are participatory decision making, accountability and transparency, efficient and responsive structure underlying the political system and equity which involves fairness and rule of law.A society striving to achieve the ideals of good governance needs to work on these values to ensures that people get their rightful share in the fruits of development of the country.

lot of initiatives have been taken in this direction which are having a significant impact on the lives of people and their relationship. The Right to information(RTI) Act has been a powerful instrument in the hands of people to ensure transparency in the decision making process. There are a number of cases where this right has been used by the people to get better civic facilities, cut down red-tape and delay in decision making and punish the corrupt.

E-governance initiatives are among the other sets of measures which is transforming the way the government functions and relates to the citizens. It is indeed true that exclusion of large segments of people from decision making process results in unresponsive government and gives rise to an exploitative system. The Panchayati Raj institution is now an essential forum for direct and participatory governance at the Village level.

World`s fastest growing Economy: India

As an economy develops the per capita income also increases. Benefits of the development start reaching the bottom of the economical structure. Their purchasing power and thus demand increases, this increases the price. Increase in the price pushes them to earn more. They become more efficient to earn more to meet their requirement. Hence contributes in the development. Inflation causes the development. According to a Times report, inflation had been used as the tool by the Latin American governments for the economical development.
When the inflation becomes higher, government starts spending more on curbing inflation than development works. Giving subsidized food to the poor usually controls food inflations, which costs more for the government. The central bank increases the lending rates, which in turn pressurizes the banks to push their products at higher interest rate. The growth slows down.
Most challenging problem in the developing economy arises when it faces the problem of wage-price-spiral. When the economy develops, the industries see prosperity the workers demand for higher wage. Higher wages increases the cost of the products. Hence the manufacturer and the service providers increase the price of the product. This in turn affects the society and again a demand for the higher wage. This cycle is called as wage-price-spiral. Presently Indian economy is facing this problem and central bank accepts it is very difficult control wage-price-spiral.
Moderate inflation is always good for the developing economy. But development should not be an excuse for the central government and central bank for its failure to curb the problematic inflation.
Inflation is the second nature of developing economy. But development should always be the first nature.

The parijata outside my window

JUST beyond the low window of my room is a parijata tree.it has been there for a over a quarter century.it is a tough tree;it has to be.Nobody bothers to water to it.in bombay where water is scarce and tax on it,when available ,is high, few people can afford to water their plants.trees wilt and seems to be dying in the scorching heat of may and june.but plant life is obstinate. Now,with the rainfall for the season already exceeding 220 centimeters, they have brightened ,and put on rich ,lovely, green foilage. The parijata has to be tough for another reason too.Its tiny white flower with its pink stem is favoured of the gods.it is high on the list of flowers usable in the hindu worship. The commonest way of picking the parijata is for people to violently shake the tree and let the flowers fall down.it is an ancient and therefore venerated habit.A parijata tree in full bloom is a pleasing sight. The flower has also a gentle, pervasive fragrance.it would ,therefore, seem unreasonable to hate the tree.but i do hate the one in my compound .I feel it has reduced my life span by a good many years .The reason for this is the habit i have mentioned ,of people coming and shaking it,and so disturbing my sleep.flower stealing is a comman habit .All flowers are fair game, but those permissible in worship ,more so.There seems to be an idea that everybody is free to go to any compound and pick flowers.

Though i have called it stealing the people who pick flowers donot seem to be conscious of guilt. They don"t come quietly and surreptitiously, look before and after ,take their picking and run. They come in groups;they talk, argue and sometimes intone devotional verses. This and the process  of shaking the paarijata  tree goes on from early dawn till late morning till,in fact ,the tree can be seen to be denuded of all flowers. And it goes on till the end of winter. The fact that their action causes rouble to others does not seem to appeal to them.Though touched with religious sentiment, because the flowers are picked for worship, this predatory habit of raiding trees in anybody`s compound is utterly destructive.

I remember some yeara ago,in britain, a woman who had plucked a daffodil from a park was not only fined five pounds, but held in custody for a night.it was mentioned in parliament because of heavy punishment. The home secretary justified deterrent action as many flowers had been picked from that garden.

We have not reached a stage where ruthless, steps are practicable. But it is well to remember that all appeals to grow more trees are futile as long as prevailing public attitudes are not corrected. That calls for a long and persistent,if tedious, processof public education.

Mission india education : Nagaland

Well defined objective oriented consistent effort to produce knowledge empowered manpower is the need of the society. The "horizontal" modal of academic leadership that emphasize collaboration and team work among the similar institutes as well as group of individuals can bring wonders in the field of academia.Organizational need to account for professional practices and expanding academic staff whose work contained an exploratory and innovative component; and growth in graduate and post graduate programmes need equivalents to the knowledge-transfer models. There is a need to understand teaching ,research and inovation, and this represents an opportunity to reorient the existing and required systems by which teaching and research are undertaken and supported.

One of the most revered personalities Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Rightly stated that the ` 21th Century belongs to the knowledge age, where acquisition, possession and application of knowledge are the most important resources.knowledge has been the prime mover of prosperity and power; it empowers and enriches people, causes societal transformation, encourages discoveries and innovations, causes goodnesss in all spheres of the society resulting peace and prosperity.`knowledge is the sum total of education ,experience, research, intelligence and information.it is basically harnessed in academic institutions.

English is the official language of the state since 1967 as announced by the state of assembly and nagamese common lingua-franca.the state has 1,520 primay school with 2,24,715 enrolments,481 middle schools with 92,271 enrolments and 449 high and higher secondary schools having enrolments of 54,635 students.Nagaland has a literacy rate of 80.11%, male 83.29%, and female 76.99%. as per 2011 census .In 2001,the literacy rate in the state was 66.59%, a change of 13.52% is registered. This proves that the state has grown signficantly inthe education sector. The literacy rate of the state is much higher than the natinal average .Out of the total population of the state 12% numbering 1,38,637 is in the age group of 18-23 years.

Every year 1000 students go for higher learning outside the state .In view of the youth of age group of 18-23 years,an alarmingly huge population of the school dropouts has been resulted every year. The present ratio of student :teacher in the country is almost 20:1.

finally i want to say that This data indicates that indian misson a long term planning and well orchestrated implementation strategy has to be taken up with the mission of "for the quality by the quality".

Patriotic poem

Emperor`s tales gives courage to indian people

 1.                 A GREAT EMPEROR VIKRAMADITYA

Vikramaditya was a king at Ujjain in the 6th century. The management of his kingdom being based on science of Dharma was very well maintained. There were 9 Main Ministers (Navaratnas) in his court for the smooth functioning of  the administration. Vikramaditya’s  father was Mahendradatta, mother, Saumyadarshana and a brother, Bhartruhari.   Vikramaditya defeated the Shakas of Arabia and incorporated that part to his empire. 'Barham Bin Soi', has beautifully described this victory of Vikramaditya in his poem.  Out of the 60 years of Vikramaditya's life, 25 years were spent in fighting wars.  He was a symbol of endurance.  He was very generous and a ruler with always well-being of his subject at heart.  Although he himself was a Shaiva (Name of a sect who are followers of Deity Shiva), he used to respect all other sects and religions equally.  Dhanvantari, Kshapanak, Amarsinh, Shanku, Vetal Bhatt, Khatkarpara, Kalidas, Varahmihir, and Vararuchi were the 9 Ministers in his Court.

        2.              GREAT EMPEROR ASHOKA

Asoka was one of the most powerful kings of the Indian subcontinent. A ruler of the Mauryan Empire, Ashoka ruled over the country from 273 BC to 232 BC. The reign of Emperor Asoka covered most of India, South Asia and beyond, stretching from present day Afghanistan and parts of Persia in the west, to Bengal and Assam in the east, and Mysore in the south. However, the Battle of Kalinga changed King Asoka completely. From a power hungry emperor, he turned into a Buddhist follower and started preaching the principles of Buddhism throughout the world. The impotance of play in child`s life

Its true that education is like a building block for a childs future. All parents dream for a better career for their childs life. Everybody wants their child to be doctor, engineer and wants to see them in high posts. In this cut throat competition children get pressurise with their activities to the extent that they don't get spare time for their own entertainment. Teachers also keep the child busy during the holidays by giving them assignments and homework. Earlier children used to play with their siblings. So, the children easily got a play environment at the home. However, now the time spent by children in playing was very less as compared to the past two decades. Parents should understand that play is an important activity and they should not deprive their child from this opportunity.
Group games allow children to learn the values of team spirit. It also teaches them to cooperate with other members of the team and develop self discipline. This also enables them to face negative situation in life and make them strong when they get defeated. Many studies have proved that children playing games which have lots of violence are likely to be more short tempered and aggressive.
It is the duty of the parents to find out whether the child knows the difference between fantasy and reality. When this problem is not uprooted in the initial stages then it can take very ugly turn in childs life and they will start presuming that real life is also like the games which they play. It will have a negative impact on children mind because inappropriate games will impart wrong set of values in them. Through play children develop essential life skills; they also learn how to interact with their peers and adults. It is through play that children develop essential life skills; they learn how to interact with their peers and with adults.

There are certain benefits that child get after playing. These benefits are given below:

1. Reduces fear, anxiety, stress, irritability

2. Creates joy, intimacy, self-esteem and mastery not based on others loss of esteem

3. Improves emotional flexibility and openness

4. Increases calmness, resilience and adaptability and ability to deal with surprise and change

5. Decreases tactile defensiveness

6. Healing process for hurts

7. Enhances feelings of acceptance of difference

8. Increases empathy, compassion, and sharing

9. Creates options and choices

10. Models relationships based on inclusion rather than exclusion

11. Alternative to aggressor-victim model of relationships

12. Decreases revenge and need for self defence

13. Improves touch and nonverbal socialisation skills

14. Increases attention and attachment capacities

15. Positive emotions increase the efficiency of immune, endocrine, and cardiovascular systems

16. Decreases stress, fatigue, injury, and depression

17. Integrates sensor motor, kinesthetic and emotional responses

Indian in 21th century

At the stroke of the midnight hour, between a few seconds of 31 December, 2000 and 1st January 2001, the third millennium was born. The birth of the new millennium was celebrated with great joy, enthusiasm and spirit all over the world, as the global media projected a new millennium image everywhere. It was indeed a landmark in human history and on that auspicious occasion, prayers were held all over the world. We should make it an era of peace and prosperity. But the thinking seems to be unfavourable for such a step.

Life today is a struggle of man against problems. Problems are increasing day by day. Let us come together, think together and work together to face these problems with courage and conviction. There is need for a political will, democratic spirit, dynamic leadership and collective responsibility to put an end to the present day complex problems. This is essential for the safety, security and progress of man on earth.

One of the best politics leader

I INTRODUCED TO MR. RAJIV GANDHI LIFE IN INDIAN POLITICS

Rajiv Gandhi was born into India's most famous political family. His grandfather was the Indian independence leader Jawaharlal Nehru, who was India's first Prime Minister after independence. Rajiv Gandhi was not related to Mahatma Gandhi, although they share the same surname. His father, Feroze, was one of the younger members of the Indian national Congress party, and had befriended the young Indira, and also her mother Kamala Nehru, while working on party affairs at Allahabad. Subsequently, Indira and Feroze grew closer to each other while in England, and they married, despite initial objections from Jawaharlal due to his religion .
Rajiv was born in 1944 in Mumbai, during a time when both his parents were in and out of British prisons. In August 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru became the prime minister of independent India, and the family settled in Allahabad and then at Lucknow. where Feroze became the editor of the National Herald newspaper . The marriage was faltering and, in 1949, Indira and the two sons moved to Delhi to live with Jawaharlal, ostensibly so that Indira could assist her father in his duties, acting as official hostess, and helping run the huge residence. Meanwhile, Feroze continued alone in Lucknow. In 1952, Indira helped Feroze manage his campaign for elections to the first Parliament of India from Rae Barely.

After becoming an MP, Feroze Gandhi also moved to Delhi, but "Indira continued to stay with her father, thus putting the final seal on the separation. Relations were strained further when Feroze challenged corruption within the Congress leadership over the Haridas Mundhra scandal. Jawaharlal suggested that the matter be resolved in private, but Feroze insisted on taking the case directly to parliament:
"The Parliament must exercise vigilance and control over the biggest and most powerful financial institution it has created, the Life insurance corporation of India, whose misapplication of public funds we shall scrutinise today." Feroze Gandhi, Speech in Parliament, 16 December 1957.
The scandal, and its investigation by justice M C Changla, lead to the resignation of one of Nehru's key allies, finance minister T.T.Krishnacharai, further alienating Feroze from Jawaharlal.
After Feroze Gandhi had a heart attack in 1958, the family was reconciled briefly when they holidayed in Kashmir Feroze died soon afterwards from a second heart attack in 1960.

Some Business Ideas in India

To make the ideas for business fruitful and working focus on those activities that help you generate a good amount of financials and also a good ROI.. You don't have to do a huge business but just the right plan and a good execution will make way for it. An idea of a business plan works if you measure the time and save by establishing rules in your business and thus spend a lot of time on your business.
ROI can be measured by the prestige of the company and the industry as such and how much the opportunities the company has.

  • Will your business idea lead to a bigger business and success?

Indian internet economy

Internet’s contribution to GDP will grow from $30 billion to $100 billion by 2015
The Internet has established its role as a powerful economic force multiplier with a new study projecting that its contribution to India’s GDP will explode to $100 billion (Rs. 5 lakh crore) by 2015 from $30 billion (Rs.1.5 lakh crore) at present.
The study on the “Impact of Internet on the Indian Economy” by McKinsey, which is still to be released, could well become a new anchor for the government’s programmes to enhance digital citizenship.
Revealing the highlights of the study, in the presence of Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal at a curtain raiser held to announce a two-day multistakeholder conference on Internet governance to be held at FICCI here on October 4-5, McKinsey said the contribution of the Internet to global GDP is roughly three per cent or $1.7 trillion and its performance in India will eventually mirror this trend.
The world currently has 2 billion Internet users, of whom 50 per cent live outside the developed world. The global Internet population is projected to climb to 2.6-2.9 billion by 2015. According to McKinsey, of this, 30 “aspiring countries” with a very high economic growth have seen Internet users grow at five times the level in the developed world. In the next 10 years, netizens in these 30 countries are projected to grow at 10 times the pace in the developed world.
By 2015, based on existing projections, India, which with 120 million users has the third largest Internet user base in the world, is projected to hit 350 million, catapulting it to a global ranking of 2, with the fastest rate of growth. An alternative growth model used by McKinsey, factoring in the trend that wireless-based expansion usually overshoots any standard formula, presents a more ambitious forecast of half a billion Internet users by 2015. This is good news for mobile companies since three out of every four or 75 per cent of all new Internet users in India are expected to go online, using wireless devices. Globally, 15-20 per cent of the users access Internet on wireless technologies, while in India this figure will eventually be closer to 55 per cent.
